They did not become famous pianists because they learned from this person; rather, he happened to teach students who were destined to become famous anyway. When I listen to his playing, the only thought that comes to mind is, "He plays well," without any further emotion…Nothing! His teaching method standardizes students and confines them within the bounds of a metronome and written scores. There is no respect for individual imagination and personality. While he might have been a good teacher 40 years ago, in my opinion from attending his masterclass, he is someone I wouldn't even want to have a cup of Tee with.

Eric Lu does not let loose like many of his 'prodigy' peers. He continues the honored tradition of magisterial playing. His style is to be listened to (and watched to be enjoyed), not to gawked at. Ten years from now, his recordings will remain in the playbook of true classical musical pleasures.

My experience is with several digital pianos under $5000.00. I can't speak about the $10,000.00 digitals. All the ones I've used have a few keys, volume soft or 3 or 4 keys volume way too loud. "Some" have slight volume adjustments for each key but not satisfying to me. And some keys have huge voicing problems. I've used at least 2 dozen or more digital pianos. The uneven key volumes and voicing, to me, is noticeable and annoying.

This piece, Afternoon of a Faun and the first movement of La Mer have exhilarating and soaring climaxes within the first few minutes of the composition which can exhaust the listener keeping them disassociated and distracted from the rest of the composition, but they sure are beautiful beyond compare, Debussy's Romantic Impressionism is absolutely stellar for its time and place.
